- Foster the complete engagement of the Commodity Consensus Team via meetings, market condition updates, secured and open position summaries, spot market activity, and other means of communication to keep all stakeholders well informed of commodity activity.
- Manage commodity financial risk as compared to agreed objectives via development and execution of strategically timed acquisition plans.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality) to translate production plans into procurement and logistics execution plans.
- Manage supplier and broker relationships, including performance monitoring, issue resolution, and contract compliance.
- Manage the distillery by-products by coordinating sales, customer relationships, and pickups in a way that minimizes disruption to operations.
- Provide market intelligence and recommendations through regular reporting on market fundamentals, basis, and local supply chain dynamics.
- Support sourcing events (e.g., RFPs), negotiations, and contracting; ensure documentation, approvals, and record retention meet audit and policy requirements.
- Coordinate delivery and transportation execution (appointments, carrier management, customs/brokerage documentation where applicable) and ensure shipping/receiving documentation is complete and accurate.
- Maintain category spend tracking and support budget/forecast assumptions; monitor purchase price variances and escalate risks and mitigation actions as needed.
- Identify and implement cost savings opportunities. Drive continuous improvement of material quality and supplier service and delivery to support improvements in supply chain and operations efficiency.
- 5+ years of experience in commodity markets and/or agricultural procurement, including working knowledge of futures and options as price risk management tools.
- Working knowledge of contracting, supplier performance management, and basic supply chain/logistics execution.
- Strong relationship management skills across a diverse supply base (suppliers, elevators, brokers, carriers, customers).
- Demonstrated partnering, influencing, and communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Analytical and detail-oriented; able to interpret market data, manage position/exposure reporting, and identify risks and mitigations.
- Customer service mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, operational environment.
- Willingness to Travel.
- Required: Business, Economics, Agriculture Post Secondary Degree
- Preferred: Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Business Administration; CPM or SCMP certification preferred.
- Overall managerial control and decision-making responsibility. Determines and changes priorities in line with financial, business and organizational objectives.
