
Manager, Global Mobility

- Act as the subject matter expert on all global mobility issues including policies, processes, immigration and tax matters, legislative changes, and external regulatory bodies
- Provide support and guidance to business leaders, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Compensation Advisors, and internal stakeholders on enterprise-wide global mobility programs
- Growing and fostering cross-functional partnerships to aid in management of all phases of the mobility cycle (e.g., pre-secondment, on-secondment, and repatriation) and execute smooth transition between teams
- Educating and advising relocating employees on expectations, expenses, timelines, service options, and resource
- At time of assignment and repatriation, coordinate required activities with management, employee, HRBP, A&S, Payroll, Benefits, HRIS and external vendors
- Conduct high-level immigration assessment at the initial stage of the process and oversee all aspects of the Global Visa & Immigration support including vendor relationships, ensuring the process runs smoothly and within the expected time frame
- Track when visa/work permit issues are going to expire and assist employees with renewal or repatriation
- Oversight of relocation services/vendors used for international relocations to ensure a seamless end user experience for assignees
- Provide escalated answers for any policy issues and requests for exceptions to policy
- Prepare cost projections/relocation agreements (as required) for review and approval
- Work with external advisors to obtain relevant advice surrounding tax matters, managing tax compliance programs for assignee population and review of reconciliation calculations
- Assist international payroll for expatriates and local payroll by collecting, verifying, approving employee payroll information
- Continuously review and maintain global mobility guidelines, processes, procedures, and controls to ensure that the global mobility programs are streamlined and meeting business requirements
- Benchmark our current policies against internal feedback and external market standards, assess potential opportunities for improvement, and make strategic recommendations for program changes (workflows, tools, policies, budgets, approvals, compliance testing)
- Manage on-going vendor relationships, ensure all service level agreements and expectations are being met in a timely manner, and that tax and immigration compliance is in order
- Monitor year-end process to ensure all steps are completed within the set timetable
- Review vendor invoices, approve and submit for payment
- This position requires a high level of tact, diplomacy, and independent judgment on actions of a highly confidential and sensitive nature and a detailed understanding of policies and procedures of global immigration and global mobility practices
- Keep apprised of current mobility trends and critical updates related to government regulations, local laws, and provide consultation to internal stakeholders.
- University degree in HR related field or equivalent
- 5 to 7 years corporate mobility policy management experience
- Knowledge of international payroll, immigration, employment, and tax issues is an asset
- Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in maintaining and building relationship with external vendors
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
