- Lead the development, revision, and implementation of safe work practices and any associated technical standards and change communications
- Coordinate and steward safety program change requests, ensuring alignment with ARC's Integrated Management System (AIMS) and applicable OHS legislation
- Provide direction and guidance to incident response teams during incidents, ensuring effective decision-making and evidence collection
- Lead or support incident investigations, including cause analysis, internal or external reporting, and corrective and preventative action planning
- Provide subject matter expertise and safety leadership on assigned working teams and committees driving risk mitigation or continuous improvement projects
- Lead small work teams to identify safety challenges and drive continuous improvement of safety programs and processes
- Periodic field travel to field locations to verify practice implementation, gather insights for program improvement, and provide mentoring to Operations: i.e., targeting up to 25% field presence. Field activities include:
- Complete H&S assurance audits/inspections (e.g., LSR verifications, regulatory compliance inspections, audits, etc.) to identify and help correct safety management system weakness and worksite hazards
- Provide on-site coaching and mentoring to field-based teams and workers, while gaining an understanding of practical safe work application and work-as-done versus work-as-imagined
- Support ad hoc audits of critical contractors as required
- Collaborate with OMS & Regulatory, Process Safety, Emergency Management, and Field Operations teams to ensure alignment with strategic goals
- Ability to collaborate with external regulatory agencies, contractors, service providers, and capital staff as required
- Provide coverage and support for Safety Operations Manager with leadership of the Safety Operations team comprised of staff and field-based safety professionals
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive operations and safety experience working in the energy, oil and gas, mining, or petrochemical industry
- Post-secondary degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related disciplines
- Safety Professional designation required such as CRSP, ROH, P.Eng. or equivalent
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required, including ability to partner and influence at all levels
- Demonstrated experience with development and implementation of safe work programs
- Proven experience in leading incident investigations, cause analysis, and reporting
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite, especially Word and PowerPoint
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian federal/provincial OHS legislation

- As this role is considered safety sensitive, the successful candidate will be required to successfully complete drug and alcohol testing, and a fitness to work test
