- Shifts are days and nights
- This position is a drive-in/drive-out, or fly-in/fly-out role if you reside outside the Marathon/Manitouwadge, Ontario area.
- Undertakes preventative, scheduled servicing and maintenance to light vehicles and mobile machinery in a safe manner and in accordance with the service sheet.
- Unscheduled breakdown repairs, light equipment recovery.
- Diagnose faults and recommends repairs and / or improvements.
- Is proactive in all preventative maintenance procedures and carries out all repairs in accordance with Barminco workshop procedures, standards and work instructions.
- Completes all service sheets and documents additional repairs completed during servicing.
- Reads and interpret Service and Spare parts manuals.
- Advise the workshop supervisors of parts used and any additional part requirements.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping in workshop and working areas at all times, ensure all parts are kept at minimum stock levels.
- Report all equipment faults to the Maintenance Supervisor / Foreman for scheduling into the workshop.
- Assists with training of other trades people to support a constructive team environment.
- Experience working on the following machinery is considered an asset: Toyota Land cruisers, Kubotas, Forklifts, small backhoes, and other small ancillary equipment.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalency
- Commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others.
- Ontario Provincial or Inter-Provincial Automobile Service Technician certificate
- Strong computer skills
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in a fast-paced underground mine environment.
- Strong communications, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
- Willing to share knowledge and have an open mind to learning new skills
- Frequent use of hand tools and precision instruments requiring coordination of fingers, hands, and arms.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking over uneven, slippery, or confined surfaces underground.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and crawling to access vehicle components and confined areas.
- Regular lifting, carrying, and moving of parts, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg); occasional assistance with heavier loads using mechanical aids.
- Climbing in and out of vehicles and onto platforms or ladders as needed.
- Reaching above shoulder level and working in awkward positions for extended periods.
- Working in hot, humid, or cold underground conditions with exposure to dust, vibration, and noise.
- Accurate visual inspection of mechanical components; reading of manuals, gauges, and service documents.
- Ability to hear warning signals, radio communications, and mechanical irregularities in noisy environments.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks over a full shift, including in emergency breakdown situations.
