
Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic

- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PMs) as outlined through work orders for underground mobile equipment.
- Identify and organize the parts and materials required for maintenance tasks in advance.
- Accurately complete all required documentation, including inspection reports, field repair records, shift logs, and safety reports.
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software, such as SAP, to track work orders, log equipment history, and support maintenance planning.
- Adhere to directions from supervisors and maintenance leads to meeting operational priorities.
- Collaborate with supervisors, planners, and other stakeholders to develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance plans.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly and effectively to minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment through regular housekeeping and compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist in training apprentices or less experienced mechanics if applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Journeyman status in Heavy Duty Mechanics (Certificate of Qualification - Red Seal or equivalent) is required.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
- Underground Common Core is preferred.
- Experience operating underground or heavy equipment is considered an asset.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and a strong track record of safe work practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to assess priorities in high-pressure situations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational abilities and attention to procedural detail.
- Team oriented with a collaborative work ethic.
- Positive attitude with a proactive and solution focused approach.
- Physically fit and capable of working in confined spaces and varying underground conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and performing physically demanding tasks.
- Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with mine site safety protocols.
- Willingness and ability to work rotating day/night shift schedules required.
