In a community where social-emotional learning is a priority, the successful candidate will collaborate with a passionate and committed team, working closely with the Head of the Junior School, and the Assistant Heads of the Junior School and PYP Coordinators.This posting is for an existing vacancy with a projected start date of August, 2026.Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Teaching:Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment and rapport that inspires and supports learning and personal growth;Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each student's ability and needs;Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members;Plan and deliver the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with IB PYP and Ministry of Education curriculum, ensuring differentiation for physical education and health units of student JuniorDevelop long-range plans, and integrate physical education into units of inquiry and lesson plans for JK-Gr 6 while ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB PYP curriculum, with a focus on inquiry-based learning;Develop programme of inquiry, unit plans and lesson plans, ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB PYP curriculum, with a focus on SEL, DEI and inquiry-based learning;Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IBO and school guidelines;Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress, including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings, 3-way conferences and student-led conferences;Keep up to date and incorporate best practices in subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities;Participate actively in faculty and division meetings and meet regularly with all course teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum.Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activitiesPhysical Education Specific:Promote athletics and physical activity within the school;Coach athletic teams each termAssume responsibility for and participate in coaching a sport for the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons;Plan and deliver the Junior School intramurals program;Organize and run other activities or events related to physical education as required (i.e., Track and Field Day).Candidate Profile:Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution and additional qualifications in Physical Education;Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with Junior/Primary division qualifications;Three years’ equivalent experience, preferred;Current Lifesaving Society Swim and Lifesaving Instructor certificate, preferred;Experience coaching sports at a Primary and Junior level;Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset;Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop environment;Belief in Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and values;Adept at leveraging technology to deliver education program and correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;Passionate about teaching and being in service of students and the community;Possesses strong oral and written communication skills;Work independently with little direct supervision with strong time management skills;Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work well as part of a team.Why Join Branksome Hall:Joining Branksome Hall will change your life.
