- Support with the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries, balance sheet account and profit and loss statement analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Perform and/or review account reconciliations and analysis of significant general ledger accounts and sub-ledgers ensuring accurate recording of assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses
- Assist with accurate reporting and analysis of results including but not limited to executive level management reporting, financial statement preparation, as well as governmental and regulatory required reporting
- Develop insightful commentary on performance and executive level presentation of data, drawing conclusion and support providing outlook
- Assist with compliance with all corporate accounting controls and checks and balances
- Working with other functional groups to capture required information and ensuring the accuracy in the financial statements
- Ensure that all balance sheet account reconciliations are complete and accurate in Blackline
- Assist with analysis on topics such as rate of return, working capital requirements, and impact of governmental requirements
- Compile, analyze and evaluate key operating metrics across businesses and operating segments
- Conduct research and prepare economic reports as needed for government requirements
- Conduct studies to analyze complex financial actions and prepare recommendations for policy, procedure, control and/or action
- Research IFRS accounting standards and assist in maintaining up-to-date accounting policies and financial statement note disclosures
- Perform continuous assessment of all accounting departmental processes and recommend re-engineering opportunities to improve the timing and accuracy of the department’s activities
- Miscellaneous other accounting responsibilities as required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/math or similar
- CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) (completed or in progress)
- 3-5 years of demonstrated ability in general accounting/ finance environment
- Audit from Tier 1 or Tier 2 audit firm or accounting experience at a mid-size or large
- Cash reconciliations
