Our client is a Canadian leader in the Construction sector seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager with heavy Industrial experience to be located in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a full-time permanent employee position. You must currently reside in and be eligible to work in Canada to qualify. If needed, relocation assistance may be provided.What you will be doing:
Project Controls Systems & ToolsDefine project controls guidelines and responsibilities within a business unit or Project Execution PlanImplement systems and tools to manage and report on earned value management, cash flow, cost, revenue, forecasting, and schedulingProvide strategic guidance to project controls and operations teams, ensuring timely and accurate project metrics aligned with corporate best practicesCollaborate with Estimating, Operations, and Finance to enhance project financial forecasting methodologiesProject SetupParticipate in project handover and kickoff meetingsContribute to commercial, administrative, and reporting requirements during project initiationWork with Estimating, Operations, and Finance teams to establish best practices and project requirementsSchedulingOversee scheduling processes to align with project standards and completion targetsManage schedule progression throughout the project lifecycleSupervise baseline schedule contributions and schedule updatesOversee schedule analysis, forecasting, and change management activitiesProgress & Cost TrackingConduct detailed reviews and analyses of project performance metricsEnsure timely reporting of project progress, forecasting, and cost trackingReview and approve project controls reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirementsOversee preparation and updates of project cash flows and financial forecastsScope & Change ManagementSupervise project change management processes, including subcontractor claims, change requests, and dispute resolutionRisk ManagementIdentify and mitigate commercial risks associated with project controlsContribute to risk mitigation planning and commercial risk assessmentsDrive continuous improvement initiatives in project controlsPeople ManagementFoster a culture of respect and collaboration within the teamRecruit, mentor, and develop project controls personnelEnsure adequate resourcing by liaising with senior leadershipCommunicationServe as a key partner to Estimators, Project Managers, Operations teams, and Senior LeadershipEngage with external clients, partners, vendors, and subcontractors as requiredWhat you must have:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or an equivalent field10–15 years of experience in the construction industryExpertise in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating, and cost controlStrong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principlesAbility to create, interpret, and adjust schedules and related reports (Note: “scheduling” is a lower-priority skill)A natural leader with the ability to build strong relationships quicklyProven track record of effectively leading project controls teamsExceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a clear and articulate approach to issue resolutionAbility to collaborate across all levels of an organizationDetail-oriented and customer-focused approachProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteFamiliarity with SAP and project controls software such as Primavera, Hard Dollar, AccubidSalary/Rate Range: $120,000 – $130,000 plus bonusesFor more information about TEEMA and to consider other career opportunities, please visit our website at
