The successful candidate will have a keen interest in bringing new technologies to the clinic.The UHNRC is looking for a highly motivated candidate to join our Engineering Service Technology Team. The individual should have demonstrable prior experience in engineering technology and working in complex environments. The individual will be engaged with technical stakeholders in our program to better enable technology and innovation.The Engineering Technologist provides support for the maintenance and repair of the cyclotron, synthesis units, hot cells and other ancillary systems at the UHN Radiotheranostics Core facility.Duties
The primary purpose of the Engineering Technologist is to perform technical operations for the maintenance of a cyclotron facility used in the GMP manufacturing of radiopharmaceuticals. The scope of this work includes, but is not limited to:
- Troubleshooting and maintenance of a PETtrace cyclotron, synthesis units, hot cells, transfer switches/lines, manipulator arms, and other ancillary equipment in the facility
- Maintain accurate GMP records of maintenance and repair activities in the service log books
- Operational activities, such as cleaning of synthesis units, change of transfer lines and some manufacturing activities, as required
- Provide preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment
- Provide on-call support for the cyclotron facility, after hours and on weekends and holidays
- Work overtime in the event of a major equipment breakdown
- Draft GMP documentation, such as SOPs and forms
- Maintain an accurate inventory of spare parts for equipment maintenance
- Schedule and keep calibration on a number of pieces of equipment, including gauges, HEPA filters, conductivity meters, pressure sensors, multi-meters and flow meters
- Read and understand electro-pneumatic diagrams
- Good finger dexterity and close vision
- Ability to lift 12 kg
- Participate in educational activities, including radiation safety, occupational safety, and GMP training courses
- Supervise or facilitate work done with any contract partners
- Assist in installation, commissioning and implementation of new equipment
- Perform other duties, as assigned
- At minimum, College or University Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology/Electronics Technology or equivalent; Masters degree or Engineering degree in Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineer is an asset
- Two (2) or more years work experience in Biomedical Engineering Technology/Electronics Technology or related fields
- Proficient in English or French
- At minimum, five (5) years of experience in maintaining cyclotrons
- At minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining synthesis modules.
- Membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) or equivalent an asset
- Certification as a Biomedical Engineering Technologist (CBET) an asset
- Excellent communication, including writing and interpersonal skills
