Teaching and learning are student-centred with an emphasis on technological innovation, diversity and integrated community and clinical industry collaborations.About the Associate Dean, School of Nursing Position:Reporting to the Dean, School of Nursing, the Associate Dean provides academic and operational leadership for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), Practical Nursing (PN), and Personal Support Worker (PSW) programs. The Associate Dean plays a key role in translating the School’s strategic vision into effective academic operations, ensuring high-quality program delivery, faculty engagement, and student success.This role ensures that programs meet regulatory and accreditation standards, reflect best practices in nursing education, and align with Humber’s institutional priorities. The Associate Dean collaborates closely with the Dean and other FHLS academic leaders to support curriculum innovation, applied research, and interprofessional education, while fostering a culture of inclusion and continuous improvement.The Associate Dean provides academic and operational leadership, supervision, and direction to faculty, program coordinators, managers, support staff, and students within the programs under their portfolio.The incumbent ensures that program objectives are met through effective oversight of teaching and learning. They facilitate the ongoing development, review, and renewal of programs to align with evolving market demands, industry employment needs, innovation, and partnerships in their areas of responsibility. The Associate Dean also supports the development of applied research initiatives across the portfolio.The Associate Dean contributes to the development and implementation of Faculty-based academic and student success initiatives, including student recruitment and retention, strategic enrollment management, problem solving, appeals processes, job placement initiatives, and leadership development.In collaboration with the Dean, the Associate Dean liaises with internal and external stakeholders, representing the Faculty in meetings and initiatives relevant to their portfolio.While the Faculty is primarily based at North Campus, new programs and campus deliveries are being introduced, as the School of Nursing continues to expand. This role will also oversee programming across campuses.QualificationsAbout You:

If this sounds like you, keep reading:EducationThe successful candidate will possess a master’s degree preferably in nursing or a related discipline, AND a PhD in nursing either completed or in-progress. In addition to education, the candidate must have professional experience relevant to programs within the portfolio.ExperienceThe candidate will have at least 5 years of academic leadership experience in postsecondary education within the last five years, along with expertise in curriculum development, marketing, public speaking, budgeting, and human resources management. They should have a proven track record of fostering excellence in teaching and learning at a well-established educational institution. The candidate must demonstrate advanced competence in college-level curriculum development, program and schedule planning, and evaluation, as well as effectiveness in teaching and relevant work experience in areas aligned with the School or Nursing programs. Additionally, knowledge of the broader social, employment, and economic context related to current and future course offerings and program direction is essential, along with a commitment to inter-professional education and collaboration within the Faculty and the wider polytechnic community.Required Skills:
- Demonstrated administrative or leadership experience at the polytechnic or community college level, including developing and managing budgets, administration of policies and procedures and management of human resources.
- Strong consensus-building skills; ability to promote excellent working relationships with both academic and non-academic staff and demonstrated ability in conflict resolution.
- Resource management skills (human as well as physical & financial).
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, advise, mentor, and engage effectively with diverse groups.
- Experience in workplace confidentiality.
- Superior time management and organizational skills, including the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Computer literacy skills: experience with software to support research and administrative activities, student management and learning management systems, educational and collaborative technologies.
- Ability to foster high performance in individuals and teams.
- Demonstrated advocacy for the professions associated within the portfolio, with awareness of the professional landscape locally, nationally, and internationally.
