- Develops, manages, and leads Centre for Wise Practice in Indigenous Health HR activities, including communication and collaboration with WCH HR staff, sub agreements with external partners and student trainee opportunities.
- New staff and student general onboarding and orientation, tracking staff schedules and timesheets, submitting timesheets and other activities with WCH HR department including new employee contracts and agreements, screening/hiring material, and job descriptions, developing or maintaining related structures and performance reviews and management if needed, of all staff except Elder
- Defines project objectives in alignment with donor expectations and reports closely with the Foundation on an ongoing basis.
- Defines criteria for success and engages with both internal and external stakeholders to support the long-term viability and success of the programs. This includes development of appropriate timelines and reports, creation of budgets and budget flows, expense tracking, review of projects and metrics development through an Indigenous lens.
- Establishes appropriate metrics for the programs, as delegated by the Strategic Lead and ensures metrics are collected to track alignment with strategic initiatives, and to support opportunities with potential funders and Foundation communications.
- Provides oversight and leadership for processes associated with the recruitment, appointment, and retention of team members, including faculty with appointments through the Centre for Wise Practice in Indigenous Health, clinician researchers, PhD trained researchers, and educational scholars.
- Ensures continuity of internal communications; weekly meetings, memos as needed, gathering updates and summaries from team members, staff calendars, event calendars, and Teams folders development and updating. Oversees onboarding of new staff and students, ensuring the appropriate internal groups are engaged.
- Identifies resources and works with the Strategic Lead in Indigenous Health, and Finance to ensure financial sustainability for faculty roles.
- Makes collaborative strategic recommendations for both the short- and longer-term goals and strategies
- Supports the development and execution of all aspects of CWP Indigenous Health events for students, including setting objectives and goals for the event, determining necessary resources, communicating with stakeholders, ensuring appropriate publicity and involvement of internal departments and groups
- Recognizes importance of and prioritizes the impact of all related projects on healthcare practitioners, hospital staff, learners and students, patients, community members and partners.
- Identifies, develops, and leads the execution of programs and events internally and in partnership with external stakeholders that support the development and experience of the WCH trainee group.
- Fosters relationships with external partners and allies to enhance and develop new trainee programs and opportunities at WCH and with the Indigenous community, including participation on Indigenous committees and activities.
- Program design, development, implementation, and evaluation is done in accordance with this in addition to Indigenous framework, promotion of Indigenous pedagogies and ways of being, while implementing GCWP-IH strategies and pillar goals.
- Manages any reports or responses required with regards to code of conduct concerns, investigations, and reporting requirements when an allegation is made, or concern is identified.
- Provides educational tools and resources related to research integrity for CWP-IH staff and students.
- Ensures that CWP-IH any data collection in program design aligns with Indigenous data sovereignty and custodianship practices.
- Ability to identify potential knowledge gaps between research and program development and clinical implementation or application, as well as practice gaps or barriers when evaluating outcomes.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working in Indigenous programs related to healthcare and/or education.
- Graduate degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with project management processes, principles and tools.
- Demonstrated success and experience planning, facilitating and implementing corporate-wide strategic initiatives.
- Self-directed and flexible; able to make decisions appropriate to scope of responsibility
- Understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing and Indigenous pedagogies, and ability to navigate the complex intersection of Indigenous knowledge within non-Indigenous institutions.
- Knowledge of protocols and ability to build strong partnerships with Indigenous communities, organizations and leaders.
- Highly developed organizational and project management skills, with expertise in planning, coordinating, managing and evaluating complex and large scale projects.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills and track record of building effective relationships throughout the organization and with Indigenous communities.
- Demonstrated skills in preparation and presentation of reports.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with written work demonstrating critical thinking, clear analysis and resulting recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability in facilitation, communication, team-building, problem-solving and change management.
- Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and Internet Explorer.
- Self-directed, creative and flexible; able to make decisions appropriate to scope of responsibility.
