Join us!Job SummaryThe Expert, Solution Design for SAP ePPM is responsible for producing technology solutions aligned with business objectives within that specific field of expertise and associated set of technology capabilities.The incumbent works with the Project Manager to create work breakdown structures, delivery timelines and effort estimates, and ensures alignment between the various functional and technical teams to successfully deliver ePPM solution components. The role leads workshops with various stakeholders, to understand user and business requirements, researching data, and technological capabilities. Furthermore, the incumbent translates information from consultation sessions into a technology blueprint or software design. The role will also take the lead in developing the roadmap within the domain(s) of expertise, make recommendations to ensure components relevant, protect CN's long-term interests through optimal design decision-making, and otherwise trigger introduction of new technology as well as containment or retirement of existing technology.Main ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery· Lead activities related to the delivery of technology solutions or software development: user stories gathering, fit/gap analysis, RICEFWs tracking, configuration, solution design, functional testing· Provide domains expertise for delivery of projects· Support Enterprise/Solution Architects, Solution/System Integrators, and other Solution Designers through domains expertise· Work and align with the various functional and technical teams· Ensure the best design decisions are made affecting the domains of expertise, keeping in mind CN's context and long-term objectives· Ensure alignment of the schedule with the functional teams in line with domains of expertise· Estimate efforts of work breakdown structure elements· Define testing strategy and ensure execution· Assist with defining and implementing security strategy· Assist with change management strategy· Assist in planning and supporting stabilization· Assist in planning and executing transition-to-coreSoftware Design and Technology Blueprint· Lead functional requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders to understand needs· Translate business requirements into functional specifications for domains of expertise· Collaborate with tech teams to ensure functional specs align to technical capabilities· Design interfaces, workflows, data flows from a functional standpoint· Create functional documentation including business process flows, configuration guides, test scripts, etc.· Lead medium complexity blueprint or participate in high complexity blueprint· Ensure deliverables comply with CN guidelines and Information Security· Support Enterprise and Solution Architect during their requirements phase· Provide expertise on current capabilities to build the high-level architectureTechnology Roadmap· Research market for innovation and emerging technologies aligned with business strategy and direction· Maintain catalogue of existing capabilities within domains of expertise and provide advisory services to various technology owners· Research ways to improve existing and new capabilities· Continuously improve processes, configurations, and enhancements· Provide leadership in the roadmap within the domains of expertise, make recommendations to ensure components relevant, and trigger introduction of new technology as well as containment or retirement of existing technologyWorking ConditionsThe role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress. The role requires minimal travel (up to 10%) within Canada and the United States (U.S.).RequirementsExperience· 10+ years of overall work experience· 5+ years demonstrating functional leadership in SAP ePPM projects· 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and deploying SAP ePPM solutions· Experience guiding full lifecycle implementations of SAP ePPM· Experience designing and deploying other software and platforms related to Planning, Project Management, or FP&A would be an assetEducation/Certification/Designation· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business, or equivalent degree and experience· SAP S/4HANA certifications*· Google Cloud Platform (GCP) certification**Any designation for these above would be considered as an assetCompetencies· Inspires others with impactful communications and adapts to the audience through speech and writing· Applies analytical thinking· Innovates through problem-solving· Knows the business and stays current with industry trends to elevate expertise and work· Ability to explain functional concepts to both business and technical teams· Demonstrates organizational abilities· Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to enable higher productivity· Works independently with little supervisionTechnical Skills/Knowledge· Expert knowledge of SAP ePPM modules and integration· Strong knowledge in related business processes· Knowledge of other modules and software commonly integrated with SAP ePPM· Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project methodologies· Knowledge of software development, telecom, infrastructure, or Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) technologies· Knowledge of I&T security principles· Strong knowledge of systems engineering or development· Great technical documentation skills· Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skillsGood prioritization and organisation skillsAbout CNCN is a world-class transportation leader and trade-enabler.
