Our philosophy is based on the CIBC values of Trust, Teamwork, and Accountability and we achieve results for our clients through an in-depth disciplined investing approach based on rigor and research.Under the direction of the MD Head of Trading and Beta Solutions, the Senior Manager, Data Management and Research, will ensure that the Investment Data Management team (IDM) perform their tasks efficiently and in a timely manner. To do so, the incumbent will make sure to keep a teamwork, trust and accountability focus environment within the team.The team which is composed of 3 members (including the Senior Manager) is responsible of ensuring data completeness and consistency of the Eagle Data Warehouse and, Policy Summary System (PSS). This is done by validating the daily uploads into the data warehouse and communicating with the upstream departments (back-office and the technology groups) to address possible issues while swiftly communicating with the downstream teams (data consumers) to ensure awareness of any issues before daily activities begin.The team also serves as administrator of these systems and act as the central point of communication across the different business partners on data issues. As Senior Manager, the incumbent will be the expert and the main contact for requests related to these systems and will decide of the best course of actions to take. The incumbent will also be an important resource on reports-related questions and other functionality inquiries, developing and overseeing advanced reporting solutions by leveraging deep expertise in PowerBI to deliver actionable insights for business partners.The incumbent will be actively contributing in establishing and enhancing Data Management protocols (including data governance, data quality, data integration, data security etc.) for all data sources and processes required by the various teams at CAM with a focus on the investment teams.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work, you’ll be on-site full-time.How you’ll succeedEnsures the team performs all the required tasks in the relevant applications accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner. Leads the execution of all daily, monthly, quarterly operational tasks and have an extensive understanding of their purpose and mechanic. Contributes in the optimization of the daily operations by recommending and participating in the automation as well as continuous improvements of these processes and ensure no gaps exists. Ensures the team performs the appropriate validation steps resulting in data completeness and consistency of the systems in scope of IDM.Oversees the creation, validation, and continuous improvement of complex management and operational reports to support business decision-making. Ensures that reporting outputs are accurate, timely, and tailored to stakeholder requirements. Utilizes advanced PowerBI skills to design, implement, and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations. Leverages best practices in data modeling, DAX, and Power Query to provide actionable insights and drive data-driven culture within the team.Serves as the primary resource for PowerBI expertise within the team, mentoring others on advanced features, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring data governance and security standards are followed in all reporting solutions . Collaborates with business partners to translate requirements into effective PowerBI deliverables. Acts as the central point of contact across the different business partners on any data related platforms in scope of IDM in regards to data issues/requests. Makes sure the team communicates swiftly with the upstream and downstream business partners to address possible issues and to ensure awareness of these issues before business daily activities begin.Leads the HUB rerun communications to the business and business partners and understand the different links between the involved actors during a HUB rerun. Leads the process with the appropriate internal data vendor relationship managers to ensure that the organization's strategic plan for data dissemination and our SLA’s are met. Understands the Eagle data warehouse playbook sequence and the purpose of each element.Collaborates with the Technical Specialist and reviews the different modules in Eagle to ensure they contain only relevant data (Codeless exporters, Entity lists, Code values etc.) that are being used and ensures legacy items are decommissioned. Ensures that Data Management (data governance, data quality, data integration, data security etc.) principles are respected and have the corresponding tasks executed on the team operations. Oversees the products in PSS to ensure similar mandates are using similar products and keep only products that are actively used in active investment policies. Communicates with business partners to keep PSS up to date with accurate information such as asset classes, products, managers etc.Keeps a very good relationship with the key vendors such as RIMES, BNY Mellon, S&P, FTSE etc. Ensures procedures are written and up to date for every tasks and activities done by the team. Manages the Confluence pages to gather, store and structure all key pieces of information about the team’s activities. Involved in any other data related activities to support the business.Who you areYou have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Math, business area of concentration, Data Science, Technology or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience that would provide the knowledge, skills and ability required. Master’s degree in Finance, Math, business area of concentration, Data Science or Technology is an asset.You can demonstrate your experience. Minimum of 10 years working experience of financial services industry experience in a data analysis, back-office or Technology capacity. Previous experience with data management principles (data governance, data quality etc.) and data warehouse platforms (preferably Eagle Pace). Advanced knowledge of PowerBI. Previous experience with dealing with data vendors and cost management. Strong knowledge of investment products and global security markets. Strong understanding of data flow and the impact of different characteristics of the data (positions, cash, security master, prices etc.) have on downstream data consumers and business functions (compliance, risk, performance, portfolio management, etc.). Knowledge of market data services (Bloomberg, FTSE, S&P, ICE, etc.). Experience using FMC (SS&C) accounting system is an asset.You're digitally savvy.
