Job Description:Job SummaryWelcome to the Destination Porter Program.Students selected by Porter Airlines for participation in destination porter will be paired with a Porter Airlines pilot who will act as a mentor to help provide guidance in their career development. Porter understands it’s a difficult path to navigate your career in aviation.Pilots selected by Porter Airlines for participation in Destination Porter will be paired with a Porter Airlines pilot who will act as a mentor to help provide guidance in their career development.Once a candidate from destination porter has accumulated a minimum of 500 flight hours, they will have the option to interview at Porter Airlines for a First Officer position.Pilots may apply to Destination Porter through one of two eligibility options. Please read carefully to determine which option applies to you.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesYour future job description will be:
  • Ensures the safe operation of the aircraft
  • Actively participates in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications1. Participating Schools: Pilots graduating from one of the following schools and programs in 2026 may apply to the Destination Porter program:
  • Brampton Flight Center - Integrated Airline Transport Pilots Licence Program
  • Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre - Conestoga College Aviation General Arts and Science Diploma, University of Waterloo Aviation BES/BSc
  • University of Western Ontario - Commercial Aviation Management Program
  • MFC Training (Moncton Flight College) - Mount Allison University Bachelor of Science in Aviation, Mount Allison University Bachelor of Arts, Mount Allison University Bachelor of Commerce, St. Thomas University Bachelor of Arts, Western University Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies, Diploma in Aviation Technology IATP, IATP/ICPC Program
  • Seneca College - Bachelor of Aviation Technology, Airline Pilot Flight Operations Program
  • Sault College - Aviation Commercial Pilot Operations program
  • Saskatchewan Polytechnic - Diploma Commercial Pilot Program
  • British Columbia Institute of Technology - Airline and Flight Operations Commercial Pilot
  • Mount Royal University - Aviation Diploma
  • Confederation College - Aviation Flight Management
  • Southern Interior Flight Centre - Okanagan College
  • Select Aviation - Integrated Airline Transport Pilots Licence Program
  • Genesis Flight College - Integrated Airline Transport Pilots Licence Program
  • University of Waterloo - Geography and Aviation (BES) or Science and Aviation (BSc) programs
  • Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre - Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) Program
  • Spectrum Airways - Conestoga College Commercial Flight Operations Program
Students are required to self-identify and apply to the Destination Porter program. Students who have successfully completed their program (or are forecast to soon) may apply. Applicants that do not meet the criteria below may still apply but require a recommendation from the program delegate.
  • Minimum average of 80% in an accredited aviation diploma program
  • Graduated or currently enrolled in a Destination Porter partner school
  • Recommendation letter from program CFI, DFO, Program Chair, Campus administrator or Program administrator
  • Demonstrated a high level of professionalism and personal deportment while completing the Flight Training Unit (FTU) program of study. Attendance, punctuality, and conduct as would be expected from an aviation professional
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and self-discipline
  • Displayed leadership potential at the FTU and/or within the community
  • Active community engagement is an asset

  • Proof of available TC written exam results required
  • Copy of Academic Record required.
Successful candidates will be invited to a preliminary interview, to be held virtually on Google Meet.For students that may not have completed the FTU’s training program by the application deadline, they will be considered for Destination Porter on a case-by-case basis.2. Early Connections Program (non-FTU): A pilot wishing to be part of the Early Connections Program through Destination Porter is eligible to apply with the following criteria:
  • CPL
  • IATRA or ATPL exams completed
  • At least 300 hours total time
  • Reference letter and/or recommendation from a leader in the aviation industry. Example: CFI, Chief Pilot, Manager, Director, etc.
Eligibility Criteria:Pilots are required to self-identify and apply to the Destination Porter program. Pilots who meet the above criteria may apply.
  • Recommendation from a leader in the aviation industry
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and personal deportment during the early phases of their career. Attendance, punctuality and conduct as would be expected from an aviation professional
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and self-discipline. Is friendly, courteous and displays leadership potential at the FTU and/or within the community and/or their current company
  • Legally able to work in Canada and obtain a Restricted Airside Access Identification Card (RAIC)
  • Active community engagement is an asset
