- Identify and close new business opportunities with medium to large retailers in the discount, grocery, drugstore, hardware, and cash & carry segments;
- Design and implement a strategic business plan to cultivate new avenues of collaboration with medium to large retailers;
- Collaborate with management to brainstorm and develop new product concepts or private label offerings tailored to the discount, grocery, drugstore, and hardware markets;
- Undertake necessary travel to explore potential retail product opportunities with medium to large retailers in various market segments;
- Assess and select relevant trade shows for potential participation, as the company's primary representative;
- Actively participate in Consumer Division sales and product development meetings;
- Develop lasting relationships with customers by understanding their needs and actively partnering with them;
- Provide the management team with comprehensive sales, revenue, and expense reports, as well as achievable forecasts;
- Keep abreast of emerging and developing markets, as well as the latest best practices in business skills such as opportunity identification.
- Devising a sales growth action plan that aligns with the company's objectives;
- Collaborate with management to generate new product concepts and private label offerings across discount, grocery, pharmacy, and hardware market segments;
- Assist the two Vice Presidents in ensuring the profitable growth of the company;
- Provide advice to Executives in guiding the company towards sustainability through evolving go-to-market strategies;
- Responsible for monitoring industry trends, including new products and pricing, and informing the management of relevant changes in the market;
- Collaborate with purchasing and key suppliers to negotiate improved costs.
- Assist the e-commerce/Marketing Coordinator on marketing initiatives.
- Help the credit manager to provide input on delinquent accounts.
- Collaborate with the warehouse manager as needed to address any issues and with customer service as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, marketing, or a related field*;
- 5 to 10 years of experience in a sales representative role or sales manager (within the industry, must have);
- Proven ability and track record of driving the sales process from planning to closing;
- Proven track record of working with major accounts, experience in opening them, and implementing new products;
- Experience working with buyers in retail product categories such as aluminum products, household products, food preparation, general merchandise, health & beauty products, tableware, and pet products (must-have);
- Good understanding of the steps needed to negotiate the contracts;
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian retail, food service, and packaging product distribution markets (must have);
- Demonstrated ability to identify new business opportunities and close a sale with C-level executives;
- Fluent in both English and French (verbal and written).
