- Conduct Inspections: Perform visual condition inspections on the City’s roads, curbs, and sidewalks
- Evaluate Distresses: Identify various types of transportation infrastructure distresses and accurately determine their quantity and severity
- Measure & Quantify: Use measuring wheels, mechanical counters, and other specialized tools to measure the length, area, or quantity of distresses
- Record Data: Accurately record measured and counted data on-site using electronic handheld equipment or tablets
- Ensure Quality: Examine collected data to ensure accuracy and resolve any obvious errors
- Support the Team: Assist Engineering Technologists in operating complex equipment for other asset condition tests as needed
- Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as required
- High School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent or higher
- Working experience of visual condition inspections on roads, curbs, or sidewalks
- Experience using Esri ArcGIS web apps (ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123) or other GIS applications
- Post-secondary education in engineering or other related fields
- Knowledge of ASTM D-6433 standard
- Standard First Aid, CPR Level A
- WHMIS certification
- Physical Endurance: Ability to safely walk long distances (10 - 15 kilometers per day) for extended periods in various weather and environmental conditions, often alongside busy traffic
- Navigation & Mapping: Strong understanding of the City of Edmonton’s addressing system, with the ability to interpret locations from various inspection maps and efficiently plan routes
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in the basic operation of inspection equipment. Ability to perform basic technical calculations and manage both manual and digital data entry
- Data Accuracy: High competency in reliable data collection, quality control, and record-keeping
- Core Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills to effectively collaborate with the team and public
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Successful candidates must arrange their own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy. This will require business auto insurance
- Applicants may be tested
