Jema is very expressive, affectionate, and loves to have fun. She can communicate her needs, but she can also be quite strong-willed and enjoys being in control. Because of this, we are looking for someone who is confident, patient, and able to set clear, consistent, and healthy boundaries. Being calm but firm is very important. She enjoys playing with dolls, pretend play (especially “playing mom”), and interactive activities. Her iPad is currently her main interest, and we are working on reducing screen time. It helps when she is engaged in new, stimulating activities, although she has a short attention span and may move quickly from one activity to another. Jema requires a high level of structure and support for daily routines. Tasks such as coming to the table, eating without her iPad, and showering (always supervised) can be challenging and require preparation, patience, and consistency. Transitions can take time, and she responds best when given advance notice and clear expectations.
