The Air / Warehouse Cargo Supervisor oversees the movement and administration of cargo on behalf of airlines and their customers in our Edmonton Air Cargo Operations, a complex regulatory environment. They will ensure that all cargo procedures are performed in an efficient and cost-effective manner, while always ensuring a safe work environment, will interface with Drivers, Customers, Airlines, Ramp Handlers and should always provide excellent customer service.Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance by team members to policies and procedures and OH&S standards inclusive of FHA’s, FLRA’s, and Toolbox Meetings.
- Build team commitment to high standards of service, exceeding Customer expectations and leading by example.
- Foster an environment in which full and transparent reporting, stop work authority and opportunities for improvement are encouraged and rewarded.
- Address or escalate Health and Safety incidents at the time of their occurrence or identification and ensure timely and accurate communication of events to Top Management, as required.
- Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work instructions and ensure they are implemented within area of responsibility.
- Have a sound understanding of all facets of EFC’s cargo operation; be able to perform the work of staff within assigned team.
- In partnership with the designated trainer, ensure required training is maintained for all areas of responsibility.
- In partnership with the designated trainer, ensure that training and competencies are developed, implemented and assessed to ensure compliance with EFC and legal requirements.
- Encourage and support employees in their professional development.
- Promote, support and encourage EFC’s vision, mission and values.
- Assist with or independently create schedules for department staff.
- Assist with or independently approve/deny timesheets and time off requests.
- Support operational strategies to motivate the Customer Service Team to achieve
- departmental goals.
- Communicate changes in policy, procedures, products, services, or any other alterations that affect delivery of customer care.
- Organize invoices and accounts payable, prepare monthly reports and determine
- supply and equipment needs.
- Monitor staff attendance and performance, and report issues daily to Operations
- Supervisors.
- Provide insight and solutions to problems as they present themselves in the department.
- Provides strong hands-on leadership in pursuing major marketing, sales and partnership development opportunities. Creates an environment conducive to collaborative teamwork.
- Build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Maintain a tidy and orderly work area exhibiting pride in work performance and contributing to a healthy and safe work environment.
- Ensure exceptional, courteous, and respectful customer service.
- Comply with and participate in the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
- Perform any other duties as required.
- Aviation background, specifically in a Cargo role, is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of previous supervisory or management experience.
- Experience in Industry Regulatory Requirements including Transportation of Dangerous Goods (Air), Transport Canada Air Cargo Security Program considered an asset.
- Able to obtain an airport security clearance. Must not have a criminal conviction for which a pardon has not be granted. Canadian Criminal Record Check is required.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Proficient with MS Word and Excel required.
- First Aid, CPR, TDG WHMIS certification and Air to Ground License an asset.
