As Master Data Management Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of master data across product, vendor, and location domains. This is a hands on leadership role ideal for a data professional who enjoys balancing individual contribution with team development while driving high standards of data quality and governance.You will directly lead an MDM Analyst/Specialist, own day to day item setup and data processes, and partner closely with Merchandising, IT, Supply Chain, Finance, and other stakeholders to enable strong decision making and operational excellence across the business.What You’ll DoTeam Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and support MDM Analyst/Specialist(s) through clear direction, performance feedback, and skill development
- Prioritize and assign work based on business timelines and complexity
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Escalate complex issues and capacity constraints as needed
- Oversee and perform creation and maintenance of product master data, including attributes, descriptions, hierarchies, UPCs, and pricing
- Manage new item setup processes to ensure timely, accurate data aligned with merchant and system requirements
- Establish and maintain product hierarchies (department, class, subclass, SKU)
- Partner with merchants on attribute standardization, taxonomy, and product descriptions
- Manage the full item lifecycle from creation through discontinuation
- Coordinate closely with Supply Chain on case pack, ordering, and logistical attributes
- Execute and continuously enhance data governance standards, policies, and procedures
- Monitor, audit, and report on data quality metrics including accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Implement validation rules and controls to prevent errors across the data lifecycle
- Track KPIs and drive corrective action to improve data quality outcomes
- Oversee vendor master data including supplier details, payment terms, and onboarding processes
- Maintain location data for stores, distribution centres, and cross dock facilities
- Partner with Procurement, Finance, Planning, and Supply Chain on data requirements and changes
- Serve as the operational owner of the MDM/PIM platform
- Ensure data synchronization across ERP, POS, merchandising, e commerce, and warehouse systems
- Partner with IT on system configuration, data mapping, integrations, and troubleshooting
- Support data migrations related to system upgrades and implementations
- Design, document, and maintain master data workflows and standard operating procedures
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce errors, and improve efficiency
- Create and maintain training materials to support consistent data practices
- Proactively recommend process, system, and policy improvements
- Build strong working relationships with Merchandising, Planning, Pricing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams
- Support analytical, reporting, and operational data needs across the business
- Educate partners on data governance standards and shared accountability for data quality
- Deep expertise in master data management, data governance frameworks, and data quality methodologies
- Strong understanding of retail product hierarchies, SKU attributes, vendor, and location data
- Experience working with MDM/PIM platforms and retail ERP systems
- Knowledge of database structures and data integration methodologies
- Advanced Excel skills and SQL proficiency
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment
- Experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory data management role
- Hands on experience implementing or administering MDM platforms in retail
- Exposure to ERP systems such as Oracle Retail, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
- Familiarity with data quality tools and BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and API integrations
- Certification in data management (CDMP) or related credentials
