As Master Data Management Analyst / Specialist, you will be a critical part of the day to day execution of master data management across product, vendor, and location domains. Reporting to the Master Data Management Lead, this role serves as the operational foundation of the MDM function—ensuring item setup, data maintenance, and quality standards are upheld consistently and accurately.This role is ideal for someone who is detail driven, highly organized, and interested in building strong expertise in retail data systems, governance, and cross functional collaboration.What You’ll DoItem Setup & Product Data Maintenance
- Execute new item setup within MDM/PIM and ERP systems, ensuring all required attributes, descriptions, hierarchies, UPCs, and pricing fields are completed accurately
- Maintain existing product master data, including SKU updates, status changes, replacements, and discontinuations
- Manage item lifecycle changes from creation through end of life, following established workflows and service timelines
- Coordinate with merchants and buyers to collect and validate item information prior to setup
- Ensure product hierarchy assignments (department, class, subclass) align with established taxonomy standards
- Partner with Supply Chain on logistical attributes such as case pack, ordering units, and routing requirements
- Support vendor onboarding by entering and validating supplier master data including contact details, payment terms, and system specific attributes
- Maintain vendor records as updates or changes occur
- Assist with maintaining location master data for stores, distribution centres, and cross dock facilities
- Route vendor and location changes to appropriate stakeholders for review and approval
- Perform routine data quality checks to identify missing, inconsistent, or inaccurate data
- Apply validation rules and data standards at point of entry
- Document and escalate data quality issues with supporting detail
- Assist with tracking data quality metrics and preparing reports
- Follow all established data governance policies and procedures
- Operate daily within MDM/PIM and ERP platforms, maintaining proficiency with workflows and system tools
- Support data migration and system implementation activities including data cleansing and validation
- Assist in maintaining process documentation, SOPs, and training materials
- Identify recurring data issues or process gaps and surface improvement ideas
- Act as a day to day contact for merchants, buyers, and category teams on item setup requests
- Communicate proactively on setup status, missing information, and timelines
- Collaborate with Planning, Finance, and Supply Chain on data requests impacting their processes
- Participate in cross functional initiatives related to new item launches, system changes, or data governance
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy in a high volume environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas
- Ability to learn and operate within MDM/PIM, ERP, and retail data systems
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of basic retail concepts such as SKU structures, product hierarchies, and vendor relationships
- Experience in item setup, merchandise coordination, or data entry within a retail environment
- Familiarity with MDM/PIM platforms or retail ERP systems
- Basic SQL skills or experience querying relational databases
- Exposure to data governance concepts or data stewardship practices
