Senior Accounts Payable SpecialistPosition Overview:Lambert Nemec Group, Winnipeg's leader in Accounting & Finance recruitment, has partnered with our client in Winnipeg recruit a Senior Accounts Payable Administrator. Reporting to the AP Manager, this role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, payments, and reconciliations, while also driving process improvements, ensuring compliance, and acting as a key point of contact for vendors and internal stakeholders.Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and process high-volume vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely approvals
  • Review and validate invoice matching to purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documentation
  • Prepare and execute payments (EFT, cheque, wire), ensuring adherence to payment terms and cash flow considerations
  • Lead vendor statement reconciliations and proactively resolve complex discrepancies or billing issues
  • Maintain and monitor accurate AP records, ensuring completeness and audit readiness
  • Support and contribute to month-end and year-end close processes, including accrals, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and audit requirements; identify and mitigate risks
  • Act as a primary point of contact for vendors and internal stakeholders, handling escalations and inquiries professionally
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within AP
  • Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and responding to audit requests
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior AP staff, providing guidance and support as needed
Qualifications & Experience
  • 4–6+ years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable or a similar accounting role
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounts payable and internal controls
  • Experience working with ERP or accounting systems;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong overall systems aptitude
  • Proven ability to manage high volumes, multiple priorities, and tight deadlines
