Hours of Work: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Pay Rate: $18 - $21 per hourOrganization Overview:
This non-profit organization provides programs and services aimed at empowering children, youth, and families to break the cycle of violence through holistic healing, Indigenous teachings, and cultural activities. The organization delivers community-based support to individuals and families impacted by violence through a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Financial Administrator is responsible for coordinating and managing financial and administrative functions. As a member of the Management Team, this role works independently and collaboratively while upholding the organization's values, philosophy, and commitment to community service.Key Responsibilities:Full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and reconciliationsPreparation of financial statements, reports, and analysis for the Board of Directors, program managers, and fundersBudget preparation and cash flow forecastingPreparation and submission of GST returnsParticipation in Board, staff, and Management Team meetings as requiredPreparation of year-end financial information and support for audited financial statements in collaboration with the Executive Director and auditorMaintenance of accurate filing systems and implementation of administrative policies and proceduresSupport payroll and employee benefits administration in collaboration with the Management TeamBuild and maintain respectful working relationships with staff, volunteers, and familiesProvide general administrative support as requiredOther related duties as assignedQualifications:Diploma or certification in Business Administration, Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experienceStrong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for non-profit organizations (ASNPO)Full-cycle accounting experience including A/P, A/R, journal entries, reconciliations, year-end close, and audit working papersExperience preparing budgets and analyzing financial reports against prior year and budgetProficiency in Sage and QuickBooks OnlineStrong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skillsAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise sound judgmentStrong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skillsProven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environmentExperience working in the non-profit sector and with a Board of Directors is an assetValid driver's license and access to a vehicle requiredKnowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and awareness of the impacts of colonization on Indigenous communities is highly valuedExperience working in community-based or Indigenous organizations is an asset
