PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:Reporting to the Manager of Crisis Preparedness and Business Continuity, the Emergency Management and Business Continuity Summer Student will support CPKC's ability to prepare for and respond to a wide variety of emergency incidents across the CPKC network. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fields of emergency management, business continuity, and rail transportation.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Assist in the management of corporate crisis preparedness and business continuity programs
  • Assist in updating and maintaining corporate crisis preparedness and business continuity plans
  • Support in the planning and execution of training and exercise programs designed to enhance corporate emergency preparedness
  • Assist in the maintenance and readiness of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and Business Continuity Facilities
  • Actively participate in the EOC and Business Continuity Facilities during periods of activation with 24/7 availability
  • Assist with the development and completion of After-Action Reports and Improvement Plans
  • Contribute to the development and revision of emergency management and business continuity content within SharePoint
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Recently graduated, returning, or currently enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, or a related field
  • Ability and enthusiasm for learning new skill sets
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate and build effective working relationships
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Previous experience in emergency management or business continuity will be considered an asset
  • An understanding of weather and natural hazards will be considered an asset.
