
Environmental Technician (contract)

- Conduct routine environmental monitoring (e.g., water, air, soil, noise) and collect samples in accordance with regulatory and internal protocols.
- Assist in the implementation of environmental management plans and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date environmental records and databases.
- Support compliance reporting by compiling data and preparing summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform inspections of environmental control systems (e.g., sediment ponds, spill containment, waste storage).
- Assist with spill response and environmental incident investigations.
- Participate in audits and inspections by regulatory agencies or internal teams.
- Support reclamation and biodiversity initiatives as needed.
- Promote environmental awareness and best practices among site personnel.
- Lifting (Large coolers of water samples, inflatable boats, generators, ice augers etc)
- Conduct environmental monitoring as required by permits and according to IGD Management Plans and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct inspections and audits of contractor environmental management system (EMS) and environmental activities (e.g. waste management).
- Interact and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team consisting of environmental professionals, engineers, and contractors.
- Diploma or degree in Environmental Technology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work in remote field conditions.
- Familiarity with environmental sampling techniques and monitoring equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and guidelines.
- G Class Driver’s License (Required).
- 1–3 years of experience in an environmental technician or field-based environmental role (mining or industrial setting preferred).
- Experience with environmental data collection, entry, and reporting.
- Understanding of environmental compliance and permitting processes.
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS, and environmental monitoring software is an asset.
- Previous experience with mentoring less experienced Monitors or Technicians would be considered an asset.
- Valid First Aid Certificate (or willingness to undertake training).
- ATV and snowmobile Operator’s Certificate (or willingness to undertake training).
- 7x7 or 14x14 rotational work
