Between the AOPS & JSS In-Service Support (AJISS) and Minor Warships & Auxiliary Vessels (MWAV) programs, Thales Canada provides support to over 70% of the RCN fleet. Thales Canada is leveraging cutting edge solutions to deliver preventative and corrective maintenance, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Program Management, Engineering and Lifecycle Material Management (LCMM), and new capabilities to numerous platforms.Thales Canada is looking for an Intermediate Systems Engineer - Engineering Change with specialization in Requirement Management to join the Engineering Change (EC) team on the AJISS program. The EC Team is a multi-disciplinary team that develops and delivers enhanced and new capabilities for RCN platforms through a broad portfolio of EC projectsThe Intermediate Systems Engineer with specialization in Requirement Management will ensure that contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements are systematically captured, traced, verified, and controlled to deliver Engineering work products through all stages of the EC process.Key Areas of ResponsibilitySystems Engineer with specialization in Requirement Management strive to understand the end-user’s needs, limitations, and concept of employment for the system and ensure that they are accurately captured, analyzed, documented, and maintained throughout the system lifecycle. They play a significant role in ensuring that we build systems which are fit for purpose and not merely technically compliant.The essential functions and responsibilities of a requirements engineer include:Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of system, subsystem, and interface requirements;Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure requirements and related work products are consistent with the needs, desires, and concerns of the end-users;Ensure that requirements are unambiguous, feasible, testable, and verifiable;Develop and maintain requirements specifications and related artefacts within the requirements management tool;Ensure bidirectional traceability between requirements and architecture/design, verification, and validation artefacts;Perform / Review requirements decomposition / fan-out, including coverage and gap analysis;Plan and participate in requirements reviews, walkthroughs, and sign‑off activities with engineering and customer representatives.Manage requirements baselines and changes, including impact analysis and configuration control.For this specific project, typical duties will include:Contribute to the design of the requirements tracking architectureConfiguring tool modules, views, attributes, and automated compliance reportsWriting, decomposing, reviewing, and maintaining up-to-date requirementsReviewing impact analyses and proposed changes to requirementsAssisting subject matter experts in producing detailed, high-quality requirementsBasic QualificationsSkills and Abilities:At least 4 to 6 years of professional experience in the design and integration of complex systems in commercial and/or military domains.At least 2 years of professional experience with a major focus on requirements.Ability to succeed in cross-functional/multidisciplinary teams.Ability to obtain clearances as specified under the Regulatory Compliance section, below.Education:University or college degree in engineering or a related discipline.Preferred QualificationsIn addition to the minimum professional experience specified above, experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset:Requirements management tools such as DOORS and/or Polarion;Familiarity with DXL;Scripting and Integration technologies - REST APIs, XML/ReqIF exchange formats, Python, Database queries;Experience in the in-service-support of naval platforms;P. Eng designation is considered an asset.Physical DemandsStandard office work.Special Position RequirementsFull time, standard business hours. Possibility of travel to east or west coast sites for technical support / installation / inspection onboard ships in dock.40 hours per weekHybrid position – a mix of working from homePay TransparencyThe anticipated Total Target Compensation (TTC), inclusive of annual salary and bonus eligibility, for this role is $92,400 to 115,500 CAD Annual​.
