They role model all NorQuest's Q's (values) with a special focus on finding ways forward, being compassionate, having honest conversations and being boldly curious and intentionally courageous.Reporting to the Sr. HR Business Partner, the HRBP provides proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented support in all facets of Human Resources as a true and skillful generalist, approaching all activities through the lens of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Utilizing strong judgement, the HRBP provides valuable support, coaching, guidance, and partnership to leaders within an assigned client group, seeking opportunities to enhance employee experiences and contribute to strong organizational outcomes. To contribute meaningfully, the HRBP will develop strong relationships within the People, Culture & Equity portfolio, across the college, and with union and association partners.HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
- Develop a strong understanding of the needs of clients to be able to provide strong consultative support on a variety of Human Resources issues as a valued strategic partner.
- Support the college and leaders to implement effective people and talent management approaches and processes (workforce planning, organizational design, total rewards, talent acquisition, competency and performance management, and career development).
- Facilitate and support the process of evaluating new positions and assessing positions submitted for classification review.
- Provide Talent Acquisition advice and support recruitment processes for senior level and leadership roles.
- Interpret and advise on Collective Agreements, Policies, Procedures, Terms and Conditions of Employment, and relevant legislative frameworks.
- Interact with union representatives, prepare grievance presentations, and provide recommendations on formal and informal solutions.
- Consult with leaders on aspects of performance development and management (coaching, performance planning, performance management).
- Support and facilitate exit interviews, departmental reviews, team development initiatives, employee focus groups, and conflict resolution discussions.
- Conduct workplace investigations including the development of high-quality reports and recommendations that are legally sound and inclusive of approaches to restore teams.
- Support leaders with interpreting employee experience survey results and developing and implementing action plans.
- Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years experience as an HR generalist, utilizing a business partner approach is required.
- CPHR designation is preferred.
- Experience working within a post-secondary or public organization is desired.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
- Solid understanding and experience in the many disciplines within HR including workforce planning, organizational design, total rewards, talent acquisition, competency and performance management, and career development.
- Skills and an authentic desire to continually learn how to effectively implement and integrate equity, diversity and inclusion into HR processes and practices.
- Ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively with individuals and groups across all levels of the organization (verbally, in writing and through presentations).
- Sound judgement and knowledge of relevant legislation as well as best and emerging practices.
- Demonstrated experience consulting with and supporting employees and leaders at all levels within a complex and dynamic organization.
- Experience in organizational design, change management and completion of projects.
- Able to proactively and innovatively solve problems with a focus on what can be done versus what cannot.
- Experience working independently to meet outcomes, and within a team.
- Experience with HR Information and Applicant Tracking Systems.
- Demonstrated skills in understanding the importance and sensitivity around privacy and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to strategically manage conflicting priorities while staying organized and keeping stakeholders updated.
