Recognizing that Black, Indigenous, and other Racialized communities have experienced inequities that have developed historically and are ongoing, we strongly welcome and encourage candidates from those communities to apply.Your opportunity:Working under the direction of the Project Leads, Dr. Irena Creed (UofT) and Dr. Pascal Badiou (DUC), you will serve as project coordinator for the international research network on wetlands as nature-based climate solutions project funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada. The project involves the participation of multiple academic institutions, government and non-governmental agencies, and industries, and includes investigators, technicians, students at the Master's and PhD levels, and postdoctoral researchers. The project is focused on mapping wetlands, measuring their greenhouse gas emission rates, determining their carbon storage potential, and modelling the effects of the surrounding landscape on these rates and storages. The project will contribute to several national initiatives related to wetlands as nature-based climate solutions.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Fostering positive relationships with project team, collaborators and partners
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
  • Reviewing and assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines
  • Informing stakeholders of project progress
  • Maintaining project records
  • Promoting research initiatives to increase program visibility and reputation
  • Preparing draft program reports and summaries from data collected
  • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) administrative guidance
Essential Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years proven experience of project coordination in a related research setting or similar environment.
  • Strong grasp of project management fundamentals with experience coordinating project resources, engaging diverse stakeholders, establishing milestones, and communicating project deliverables and status
  • Experience liaising and managing e-mail and phone communications with a large and diverse group of project participants
  • Experience using social media platforms, newsletter platforms and website content management software to write, edit, and maintain outreach communications, event calendars, news updates, and other content would be ideal
  • Experience managing registration and the logistics of virtual meetings/webinars using software such as Zoom and Teams
  • Experience tracking, monitoring and handling project expenses
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources and stakeholders
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and meet competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Note: This is a 1-year TERM position until May 2027. In addition, this position is not eligible for Alternative Work Arrangement and requires the incumbent to work 5 days a week on-site at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. USW Pay Band 11 -- $76,577. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,928. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
