Reports to: Trading Manager
Employment Type: Full-TimeAbout the Role $100k+ depending on experience Plus a great bonusWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Commodities Trader to support the daily trading activities of our sales and refining operations. This role plays a critical part in executing trading transactions, supporting customers, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the trading department. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external customers while contributing to the overall success of the business.Key Responsibilities
  • Execute spot and forward metal trades and foreign exchange transactions in line with company guidelines and customer requirements
  • Collaborate closely with the trading team to support daily operations
  • Prepare, process, and maintain accurate documentation related to trading transactions
  • Provide customers with market-related information and respond to internal inquiries
  • Monitor trading accounts, perform reconciliations, and support cash flow management
  • Compile and distribute regular trading and financial reports
  • Provide backup support to the Trading Manager and Treasury functions as required
  • Perform additional related duties as needed
Scope & Impact
  • Handle day-to-day trading operations and contribute to meeting departmental objectives
  • Exercise sound judgment in daily trading transactions within defined guidelines
  • Interact regularly with external customers, internal department managers, and senior leadership
  • Play a key role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of the trading function
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based
  • May require working extended hours to align with financial market timelines
  • Occasional travel for training or site visits may be required
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a trading role or equivalent
  • University degree in Commerce, Economics, or Finance
  • CFA designation and/or Canadian Securities Course (CSC) considered an asset
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
  • Solid technical knowledge of trading functions and ability to resolve discrepancies
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex spreadsheet creation
