- Lead and execute the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements and supporting working papers
- Oversee and mentor an Accountant, providing guidance and review of day-to-day deliverables
- Perform detailed inventory reconciliations and ensure proper costing and valuation
- Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Prepare income tax and support tax working papers for year-end
- Support financial reporting requirements, including internal management reporting and analysis
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, controls, and reporting accuracy
- Perform variance analysis (budget vs. actuals) and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Assist with FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Prepare cashflow models and monthly cashflows
- Be key contact with external auditors and CRA, providing documentation for audits
- Leverage data analytics tools to support decision-making and reporting enhancements
- Develop and maintain dashboards using Power BI or Tableau
- Utilize Power Query and advanced MS Excel for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- CPA designation is required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience within retail, distribution, or wholesale industries is required, or audit experience supporting retail clients
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and high-volume transaction environments
- Proven experience managing or mentoring junior team members
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling)
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, and Power Query strongly preferred
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work with and analyze large, complex data sets
- Solid understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and month-end processes
