Role description: Arcadis is seeking a Junior Transportation Engineer or Planner with at least 3 years consulting experience to join our growing and dynamic Mobility Advisory (transportation planning) team in Vancouver, BC. The focus of our team is providing transportation consulting services in support of projects for municipal, provincial and regional clients, as well as for private developers in Western Canada (BC and AB). We support our clients in optimizing operations on existing networks and recommend operational changes to support all modes of transport. We also undertake road safety analysis and reviews to minimise collisions and to eliminate major injuries and fatalities (Vision Zero), and to recommend mitigation and actions to be taken. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent communication skills, be eager to learn, and indicate an interest to work on a wide variety of private and public sector projects. Role accountabilities: In this role, you will be actively involved in a variety of exciting transportation engineering and planning projects as part of our growing Mobility Advisory Western Canada team. You will contribute to transportation impact studies and related analyses for residential, commercial, and employment developments across British Columbia and Alberta. Your work will include conducting traffic operations and capacity analyses, reviewing parking demand, participating in corridor studies, travel demand management, traffic modelling, and road user safety assessments. You will also gain hands-on experience with in-service road safety reviews, before and after analyses, and road safety audits. Additionally, in this role you will support the development of Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, and contribute to roadway planning and preliminary design studies by analyzing existing transportation operations and evaluating alternative configurations. You will help prepare Multiple Accounts Evaluations (MAE) and business cases for transportation projects, develop traffic management plans, and coordinate projects with other technical disciplines to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery. Your responsibilities will also include preparing technical reports and documenting your analyses to support project success and inform client decision-making. Qualifications & Experience: Education in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Engineering Technology or related fields Three or more years of experience preferably in a consulting setting Strong working knowledge of municipal regulations and the Highway Capacity Manual, and other recognized transportation standards and reference materials Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, AutoTURN, Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM Experience preparing proposals, and materials for and facilitating meetings with technical agencies and the public Why Arcadis? The salary range for this position is $66,000 - $99,000. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
