
Reliability Compliance Program Manager

- Responsible for ATCO Electric's overall compliance with ARS Standards and ISO Rules, including regular collaboration with standard owners.
- Develop key performance indicators and provide updates to the leadership team.
- Ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly identified between the compliance team and standard owners
- Monitor and review stakeholder consultations, approval applications to the AUC, entity information requests, stakeholder arguments, and regulatory decisions related to ARS Standards and ISO Rules.
- Coordinate with external parties to maintain effective working relationships and resolve issues related to ARS Standards and ISO Rules.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies' policy response submission deadlines.
- Provide monthly updates on compliance issues and lead formal quarterly reviews and internal reporting.
- Manage compliance software processes and ensure accurate data use.
- Ensure standard owners are collecting and storing evidence appropriately.
- Identify compliance improvements in collaboration with standard owners, secure funding, and assign execution responsibilities.
- Monitor the development or revisions of ARS Standards and ISO Rules with the associated standard owner.
- Participate in stakeholder sessions and provide feedback to the AESO.
- Provide visibility to leadership team of potential business impacts.
- Prepare business cases for required funding.
- Ensure compliance by the standard effective date.
- Lead compliance activities such as Annual Self Certifications, ARS audits, quarterly reviews, and Self Reports submitted to AESO and MSA.
- Ensure resources are available for audit activities and responses.
- Minimize findings during external audits.
- Address any audit findings or observations, secure funding, and assign execution responsibilities. Track to completion.
- Monitor contraventions and report key performance indicators.
- Take lead responsibility for drafting self-reports, mitigation plans and responses to AESO or MSA.
- Monitor mitigation plans to ensure timelines are met.
- Report results from the MSA, ensure penalties have visibility to the leadership team, and ensure penalties are paid on time.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering or equivalent.
- 5 - 7 years of related experience, applicable to transmission power systems and/or power generation systems.
- Audit-related training is preferred.
- An understanding of the current industry structure in Alberta including the AIES, AESO, AUC and MSA roles and responsibilities, Alberta Reliability Standards, EAI, Transmission Regulations, etc.
- A strong transmission and generation operations knowledge is beneficial.
