Step into the role of Manager in Alberta's Government Financial Services Division and make a difference today!As the Manager, Financial Operations and Compliance you will Report to the Director, Financial Reporting and Operations. The Manager leads the function of the Financial Policy and Compliance team, and works within the framework of relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures and exercises extensive professional judgment to determine how objectives are accomplished.Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- You will continuously develop, implement, evaluate and enhance financial policies and processes for Departmental financial operations to ensure strong internal controls and protect financial interest of the Department.
- You will consult and advise about our services to line areas in relation to financial policy and financial operations to ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, frameworks and business plan goals.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the unit including issue resolution relating to Financial Operations and Compliance.
- As an Accounting Officer, ensure duties are performed in accordance with legislation and policy including reviewing transactions and services we provide ensuring to communicate and share with other AOs within the GoA.
- You will work collaboratively with other department staff performing financial functions to deliver quality financial services. Including managing, attending and participating within branch projects.
- Build and develop a strong and inclusive team fulfilling financial accounting and financial operations responsibilities.
- You will support the Director, Executive Director and Assistant Deputy Minister to achieve the objectives of the Financial Operations unit and Financial Services branch.
- A University graduation in Business with a focus in Accounting or Finance supplemented by four-years related experience.
- Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
- Professional accounting designation - Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is an asset.
- Current GoA employee with knowledge of Government of Alberta's applicable legislation (e.g., Financial Administration Act, Fiscal Planning and Transparency Act, Government Organization Act).
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
