
Recreation Technician I - Program Leader

- Lead a variety of recreational programs for adults with disabilities. Programs include: Rockin in Rundle, Ready Set Rec!, Social Night and more!
- Plan and deliver high quality, adaptable and inclusive programs for adults of all abilities individually and with a co-leader.
- Maintain program related paperwork, such as attendance and incident reports
- Ensure the safety of the participants while ensuring activities are progressive, challenging and can adapt to varying levels of skills
- Attend training and in-services as required
- Create a positive workplace environment through respectful interactions with all recreation facility staff
- Create a safe, positive and welcoming environment where participants can thrive while developing physically, cognitively and socially
- Promote the benefits of healthy living and physical activity
- Promote development of fundamental movement skills, physical competence and self confidence
- Ability to use program materials and equipment safely
- Provide outstanding customer service to participants, guardians, support staff and patrons.
- Act as a customer service representative on program sites
- Other related duties as required
- Completion of Grade 12 or high school equivalent
- Experience leading recreation or sport based programing for individuals with cognitive/physical disabilities
- Education/experience in adapted physical activity
- Experience providing care and support to individuals with disabilities
- Ability to lead, organize, instruct and supervise group activities
- Some experience working with the general public, children and other program users
- Provide excellent customer service and the ability to handle difficult situations
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with program users and staff
- Able to work out of ACT Aquatic and Recreation Centre located in Rundle Park
- Day time availability specifically, Tuesdays from 12:00-3:00pm

- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
