The Team Leader will be assigned to a program but may be called to work at any of the other sites during their shift to assist with duties or to provide support in urgent situations.Through positive role-modeling and a trauma-informed approach to care, all employees focus on supporting youth in planning for their future and in creating healthy relationships with their families & communities.Each youth (between ages 3 to 17 years) has opportunities to access traditional Indigenous teachings, cultural opportunities including sweats, sharing circles, smudging, pipe ceremonies, feasts, round dances, languages and access to community Elders and Knowledge Keepers.The PositionWe are looking for an experienced, adaptable Team Lead to oversee a youth home. You must share our values of integrity, resilience, teamwork and be open to cultural involvement.The Team Leader is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations in the group home. The Team Leader provides and maintains a safe, supportive and culturally open environment in order to support the development of the youth and staff.Schedule:
One (1) Permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday, occasional evening and weekends expected.
- Will be required to provide 1 week of on-call support every 6-8 weeks.
- Oversee youth program staff performance through ongoing feedback, staff supervision and regular performance reviews.
- Prepare menus and recreation plans
- Initiate new staff training and orientation.
- Meet with staff for case consultation and youth file reviews.
- Prepare and maintain staff schedules - including holiday requests, leaves of absence, etc.
- Review & approve timesheets; ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Help employees with conflict resolution and address disciplinary matters.
- Ensure employees adhere to organizational policies, procedures and CAC accreditation standards and that incidents are managed and reported accordingly.
- Coordinate all youth intakes and discharges
- Advocate for youth in the group homes and programs.
- Advise and oversee implementation of individualized service plans and youth programming.
- Provide On-call coverage
- Liaise with Child and Family Services and other external agencies/professionals involved with youth served.
- Complete monthly reports.
- Degree or Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Family Services or Human Services field, etc.
- Minimum 5 years experience in Child and Youth Care.
- 2+ years supervisory experience in a social services role.
- A current (within past 6 months) criminal record check and Children's Services Intervention check prior to confirmation of employment
- Must have - Class 5 Driver's Licence or GDL (driver for minimally 3 years) with clean driver's abstract & personal car insurance (2 million in third party liability)
- First Aid/CPR Certificate Level C
- Suicide Intervention, Self Harm, Crisis Intervention and Medication Administration training
- Indigenous awareness and cultural diversity training and awareness and understanding of Alberta Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
- Able to lift 50 lbs
