With over a century of expertise, Nordstrong is known for its durable, high-performance solutions and collaborative engineering approach.Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, we're seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer or Drafter. If you have a passion for precision, enjoy problem-solving, and are ready to play a hands-on role in creating custom solutions for real-world applications, this is your chance to join a company that values craftsmanship, innovation, and teamwork.As the Mechanical Designer or Drafter, you will:
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and project teams to transform ideas into accurate, production-ready designs.
  • Develop initial models, technical drawings, and schematics using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Verify design specifications and recommend adjustments to meet company standards and best practices.
  • Work cross-functionally with estimating, production, and supply chain teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings and BOMs.
  • Provide drafting and modeling support for custom equipment while ensuring all deliverables meet internal deadlines.
  • Participate in initiatives to standardize and improve design documentation processes and tools.
You and Your Experience:
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related drafting discipline.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks; working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, and power transmission design.
  • Experience working in a steel manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and customer specifications.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on mindset.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage priorities independently.
  • Team-oriented with a drive to support colleagues and projects proactively.
  • Highly organized with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Driven to delivering accurate, high-quality work that meets customer expectations.
  • Valid passport and driver's license; willingness to travel within Canada and the U.S.
