About SycleAt Sycle, we’re transforming how audiology practices operate. Our cloud-based practice management platform powers over 20,000 users worldwide - from local clinics to enterprise retailers - helping them streamline operations and deliver better patient care. We’re a growing SaaS company with startup energy, industry respect, and global reach. The OpportunityWe are looking for a Team Lead with demonstrable experience transitioning from manual coding to managing AI-driven agentic workflows and tooling throughout the software lifecycle. As a Lead, you will move engineering closer to business goals by acting as the "Site Foreman" for a cross-functional 8-person team building applications to optimize customer experience. You will focus on system architecture, security, and throughput rather than manual syntax, while also mentoring your team on prompt precision and the translation of complex business requirements into technical execution plans. Success will be measured by "System Throughput"—the volume of validated features delivered via AI-enabled tooling and the collective velocity of the engineers under your guidance.Tech Stack & Tools
  • Languages/Frameworks: TypeScript, React/Next.js, PHP (Laravel), Node.js (Nest.js).
  • AI Tooling: Windsurf, Claude 4.6+, and GPT 5.4+.
  • You will split time between traditional development to meet immediate customer needs and building and refining the AI workflows and tooling. We need pragmatists who can deliver high-quality code today while helping us automate the process for tomorrow.
Key Pillars of Responsibility
  • Architect of Intent: Translate Product Owner requirements and Gherkin/BDD specs into technical execution plans, defining architectural patterns rather than manual logic.
  • Context Stewardship: Curate the "Digital Brain" by maintaining RAG pipelines to ensure agents use modern patterns and avoid deprecated legacy code.
  • Security & Ethics Auditor: Serve as the final safety gate, auditing all output (human or AI) for HIPAA compliance, logical security, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Agent Teacher: When an agent makes a mistake, you "fix the agent" by updating instructions, prompts, or context rules so the error is never repeated.
  • Team Orchestration: Lead a cross-functional team (e.g., 2 Frontend, 1 Backend) and oversee simultaneous deployment of multiple features by managing parallel agentic workstreams.
Skills & Requirements
  • Core Engineering Mastery: Strong experience with Node.js (Next.js/Nest.js) and PHP (Laravel).
  • Modern Infrastructure: Proficiency with AWS, microservices, and relational databases like MySQL/Postgres.
  • Agentic Proficiency: The ability to direct AI agents to generate code, tests, and documentation. This involves moving beyond basic chat to orchestrating parallel workflows, managing multi-agent chains, and setting the "rules of the road" for your team's agents to follow.
  • Verification & Oversight: Experience with automated testing (e.g., Playwright) and the ability to define rigorous failure scenarios to ensure robust code before it reaches human review.
  • Strategic Leadership: Ability to mentor junior devs on "Prompt Precision" and provide a "Human-in-the-Loop" audit for the team's collective agentic output.
  • Accountability: A shift from "trusting your fingers" to "verifying output," taking 100% responsibility for the integrity and security of the system, regardless of how the code was generated.
  • Bonus Points: You have taken courses in Agentic development and/or have done side-projects using various LLMs and associated tools.
What Success Looks Like
  • High Precision: Managing agents to produce first-draft code that passes the majority (80%+) of automated tests.
  • Velocity: Achieving a measurable increase in feature delivery (e.g., the "2x Goal") compared to traditional manual baselines.
  • System Integrity: Maintaining a 0% critical-defect rate in production while overseeing parallel workstreams.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive personal health plan (Medical, Dental, Vision).
  • RRSP matching and Internet subsidy.
  • 3+ weeks of paid time off plus paid statutory holidays.
Join us in building the future of audiology care. If this sounds like you and you’re a close fit for the role, please apply.Note: Our Canadian developers are based in BC, Alberta and Ontario and we're only hiring in those provinces.
