
Health and Safety Manager – Major Projects

As part of a major construction project (over $500 million), we are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to strengthen our HSE culture and ensure operational excellence in the field.
This large-scale mandate will place you at the heart of a complex construction site, where your expertise and leadership will have a direct impact on the project's performance, culture, and reputation. You will be responsible for implementing the OHS program, rigorously monitoring practices in the field, and continuously improving safety standards.
- Ensure full implementation of the OHS program on the project, in collaboration with site teams and partners
- Actively participate in the planning, risk analysis, and mobilization phases of the project
- Be the OHS point of reference in the field: supervise, advise, and mobilize teams to maintain a proactive safety culture
- Ensure compliance with applicable OHS laws, regulations, and standards, and intervene in cases of non-compliance
- Conduct regular audits, identify discrepancies, and recommend concrete corrective measures
- Lead OHS training sessions, talks, and meetings with workers and subcontractors
- Follow up on incidents, conduct investigations, and produce the required reports
- Collaborate with regulatory authorities and represent Pomerleau during inspections or official meetings
- Compile and analyze project OHS statistics to guide preventive actions
- Propose innovative improvements to OHS practices to enhance project performance
- Significant experience (10 years) in OHS in the construction industry and in health and safety management on construction projects (experience in civil engineering/infrastructure on large-scale projects is desirable)
- College or university education in health and safety, risk management, or a related field
- Knowledge of provincial OHS laws and regulations and industry best practices
- Leadership in the field, ability to motivate teams and manage priorities in a demanding environment
- Proficiency with computer tools (MS Office, OHS tracking platforms, etc.)
- Clear communication, professional rigor, and passion for safety
