- Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights to drive cost control and profitability.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Collaborate with CEO to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
- Oversee tax planning and compliance activities.
- Monitor and report on key financial metrics and KPIs.
- Manage and develop a team of finance staff.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; manage a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards.
- Recommend benchmarks to measure the company’s performance.
- Produce the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract review.
- Work with external auditors and provide required information for the annual audit.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal government requirements.
- Prepare monthly financial statements.
- Prepare Cash Position report as needed.
- Submit quarterly and yearly Statistics Canada reporting.
- Month end entries, financial statements, bank reconciliation, accounts payable postings and payments, sales entries, cash receipts, quarterly GST and insurance renewals.
- Annual audit: prepare audit package and year-end adjusting entries.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Lead an inclusive, collaborative and positive workplace environment.
- Oversee the operations of the sales team, banking requirements and accounting department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
- Manage office staff duties and responsibilities.
- Benefits plan administrator: add new qualifying members, maintain employee details approve monthly invoices, track reimbursements.
- Oversee training programs and identify training needs.
- Ensure smooth operations and professional Human Resources management.
- CPA Designation required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial management, financial and/or business services capacity.
- Proven understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting.
- Solid cash flow management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong business process and budgeting knowledge.
- Proficient in financial software and tax preparation systems.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Strong People Management and HR best practices experience.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
