Job Description:Our client is a long-established Canadian subsidiary of a reputable global leader in its sector headquartered and listed in Europe. They are looking for an experienced and hands-on Controller to succeed the incumbent who will be retiring after more than 25 years of employment. The Controller is the only finance/accounting staff member at this small Canadian operation. Despite the small team, the company has been very successful and stable throughout the years.They offer a very generous discretionary bonus along with an amazing benefits package. Their office offers a panoramic view of Vancouver and the North Shore mountains. Did I mention there is also free parking and gym at the building?Duties and responsibilities of the Controller is as follows:
  • Responsible for the full-cycle accounting of the company - GL, AR, AP
  • Ensure timely month-end closing of the financials and prepare all financial reports to submit to the European HQ
  • Prepare the annual budget and monthly forecast
  • Manage and plan the company's cash-flow
  • Complete and file T2 and other tax compliance - GST/HST
  • Process the biweekly payroll and administer benefits for the company's staff
  • Manage the foreign exchange and hedging
  • Lead the ERP system upgrade and implementation
TMGVCJob Requirements:
  • A minimum of 10+ years industry accounting experience
  • Canadian CPA qualification or equivalent is a must
  • Wholesale/trading industry experience would be an asset
  • Hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting, month-end closing, financial reporting, AP, AR, budget & forecast, cash flow management, tax compliance
  • Exposure to a multi-currency environment and experience with forex and hedging
  • Payroll processing and benefits administration experience
  • System implementation experience is a nice to have
  • Proficient with MS Excel skills and experienced with ERP systems - MS Dynamics
  • Superb written & verbal communication skills
  • Independent, strong problem-solving skills and able to work with minimum guidance/supervision
  • Eager to learn and possesses a strong business acumen
