- Manage and maintain the Aviation Risk Register and ensure critical risks will be identified and mitigated to as low as practicable.
- Develops, implements and manages policies, procedures and systems for the aerodrome facility, ground support and flight operations
- Manage and monitors compliance to current procedures and policies and provides feedback to management team and areas for improvement
- Assist with the implementation of all BIM internal and external regulatory Health, Safety, Environment, Security and Training systems, tools, processes, guidelines, procedures and plans and quality assurance programs
- Assists with the coordination of internal audits of operational programs, plans, processes, and procedures as requested through the Site Services Manager
- Identifies and implements the development and delivery of training related to Canadian aviation regulations, Canadian aviation security regulations, fixed and rotary winged operations, contract and other applicable regulatory programs and in cooperation with the BIM Training Department
- Oversee fuel management policies and procedures for both fixed and rotary winged operations
- Provides technical knowledge for potential improvements to current operations and facilities as well as expertise into future facilities expansion and requirements
- Liaisons with third party aviation consultant to review and assess the potential impact of federal, provincial, regional, and municipal regulations, amendments, and advisories, and provides recommendations for policy/procedure revisions.
- Provides advice and recommendations to the Site Services Manager on concerns and sensitive issues as well as policy clarifications to ensure consistency of the operation and administration of the aerodrome.
- Identify, report and discuss any internal or external regulatory contract/operator breaches immediately with the Site Services Manager
- Provide technical knowledge and interpretation on policies and procedures activities of the aerodrome in emergency situations in cooperation with the Site Services Manager
- Develops and tracks critical targets and tasks the aviation and aerodrome operations to ensure identified goals are met
- Establish and maintain a Wildlife Hazard Management Program to mitigate bird and wildlife strike risks
- Develops and maintains the aerodrome operations manual and related plans, procedures, and manuals required by the Company and regulators.
- High School diploma
- Post-secondary education in Airport Management or related field
- IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) certification
- Standard First Aid
- Minimum five to seven (1-3) years leadership experience leading diverse teams
- Minimum five (5) years experience in airport management or related field
- Minimum three (3) years experience working in a flight operations dispatch environment, fixed and rotary winged operations and/or ramp operations in a remote location
- Experience with airport management, air transportation systems, aerodrome operations, maintenance and construction procedures and practices
- Experience with remote airports and aviation operations. Arctic experience would be an asset
- Experience working with indigenous employees and communities would be an asset
- Experience managing departmental or operational budgets would be an asset
- Relevant education and certifications
