
Fitness Attendant

- Welcome and assist patrons by greeting them, checking them in, and responding to inquiries in a professional and friendly manner.
- Conduct both adult and youth fitness centre orientations, introducing proper use of equipment and facility guidelines.
- Provide safe and effective instruction on the use of all cardiovascular and weight training equipment.
- Observe patrons and provide feedback on correct exercise techniques to support safe and effective workouts.
- Offer spotting assistance for strength training exercises as required to ensure member safety.
- Actively promote a wide range of fitness and wellness programs, services, and special initiatives to encourage member engagement.
- Maintain a clean and organized fitness centre by performing equipment setup, cleaning, and light maintenance.
- Conduct regular safety checks on fitness equipment to ensure functionality and safety standards are met.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment by monitoring the facility and supporting patrons in following policies and guidelines.
- Track and record daily fitness centre usage statistics for reporting and operational purposes.
- Provide first-aid treatment for minor injuries, coordinate additional care when necessary, and complete incident reports in accordance with procedures.
- Maintain fitness equipment inventory on a quarterly basis and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Completion of high school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate from a recognized provider, with CPR-C and AED Certification.
- Completion of Weight Training designation or equivalent; additional fitness certifications are considered an asset.
- Must keep all applicable certifications and registrations in good standing.
- Successful completion of Criminal Record Check.
- Strong knowledge of the fitness industry and safe exercise practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to customer service.
- Basic computer skills, including comfort with fitness-related software.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
