Brief Description:Our employer is a premiere provider of high quality flooring, tiling, and surfacing solutions. They are looking for an estimator to be responsible for reviewing project documents, estimating labor and materials costs, and project timelines to internal and external customers in the preparation and delivery of estimates and proposals. They are seeking a motivated individual that can work independently and part of a team.Job Function:
- Review drawings and tender documents to understand scope of work and submission requirement. Including identifying required scopes/trades and quantities.
- Review contracts prior to bid to ensure that terms, conditions, exclusions, and qualifications included in the owner's contract are appropriately addressed in the cost estimate.
- Estimate self-performed and subcontractor performed work, pricing the labor, equipment, and material costs.
- Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates at tender stages for review.
- Prepare construction tender packages for project manager.
- Coordinate, obtain, and review vendor and subcontractor quotations prior to bid.
- Review design or architect options and/or recommend best solution/alternative based on cost-effectiveness or availability of materials.
- Complete client bid forms and documents required for submission.
- Support project management by estimating extra work items and change orders.
- Follow up with clients on bid submissions as required.
Job Requirement:
- Valid full G Driver's License and access to a car.
- Construction Estimating: 1 year (Preferred).
- Currently enrolled or recently completed a program of Construction Estimator in an accredited College or University (Preferred).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge of various flooring product is preferred.
- Ability to produce accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings.
- Ability to produce detailed, final cost and time estimates.
- Ability to travel occasionally as needed for site visits and bid delivery.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines is a must.
- Ability to multitask, adapt quickly and create interim solutions until permanent tool/ process are in place.
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter, as well as work in team environment.
- Have strong passion for construction, design and project management.
- Ability to learn new software quickly and willingness to continuously develop technology skills.
- Well organized with the competence to prioritize, execute tasks, and manage many tasks at once.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively across all levels of the organization's diverse workforce.
