- Reviews the requests from the line managers. Applies and organises the necessary resources to manage the entire project. This may require negotiation with line managers or other programs in order to resolve resource conflicts, which must be done in the best interests of the company.
- Negotiates, discusses and concludes agreements with primary stakeholders including internal clients, Product Manager, customer Program Managers, on the principal requirements and goals of the project, as well as the budgets, resources, and methods necessary for completion. In many cases, these elements will be in conflict, or contradictory, and the Product Development Manager will maintain a constructive and creative approach to keep an equilibrium between what can be achieved in the allocated time and budget, while preserving the best interests of the company.
- Prepare detailed schedules to track the evolution of the project on a day to day basis, regularly review actual costs vs estimates to complete, generate mitigation plans as needed to meet project cost and schedule targets. Identify and manage risks and opportunities on the project. Insure the inclusion of all deliverables for all client programs that are affected by the project.
- Maintains a control of the project through a regular review process, including design reviews, audits, mitigation plan reviews, team meetings, project meetings, etc.
- Supplies technical and administrative advice, vision, and decisions to the project team.
- Contributes to the technical and programmatic discussions of client programs, as necessary.
- Provides visibility on the product development project for the company, the Product Managers, the client facing Program Managers, through technical, management, and regular progress meetings. Provides visibility on the project to upper management through monthly program reviews, and information sessions as needed, as subjects critical to the company’s best interests arise.
- Generates a framework for the management of sub-contractors, and capable suppliers, in partnership with Supply Chain, in order to ensure compliant material supply throughout the course of the project.
- Collaborates with Product Manager, Business Development, and the Office of the Chief Architect, to establish the strategic roadmap for product development.
- Bachelors or higher level diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering, or other equivalent diploma
- 10 years experience in project/program management, or project engineering, in a related technical field
- Experience in negotiations, risk management, contract management, sub-contractor management, project finances, and US ITAR regulations
- Experience in naval electronics programs is preferred
- Good relationship and interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership skill
- Excellent communication skills in French and English
- Experience in Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly, Design for Test is preferred
