The Speech Language Pathologist will carry out diagnostic, management and preventative procedures, which at St. Peters, generally focuses on the complex, older adult. These individuals may present with communication and swallowing difficulties due to impairments of language, speech production, cognitive-communication, oropharyngeal (swallowing) function, voice/resonance and/or fluency. The Speech Language Pathologist reports operationally to the Clinical Manager. Key responsibilities include: planning and executing individual and group intervention techniques and procedures, monitoring patient progress, reevaluating management plans, working in close cooperation with other health care professionals and promoting optimal environmental conditions for both effective communication and safe feeding. Speech Language Pathologists are involved in student education, professional development activities, program quality-improvement initiatives, continuous learning and networking with the interdisciplinary team.Qualifications1. Masters in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent
2. Registered with the College of Audiologists & Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario
3. Demonstrated knowledge of the legislation governing the profession
4. Demonstrated exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in writing
5. Demonstrated ability to instill confidence in clients and their families
6. Experience working in a Post- Acute setting with an older adult population an asset
