Travel: North America (Canada & USA, as required)As our next Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, commissioning, and supporting electrical control systems for advanced automation and assembly solutions. - Designing, developing, and supporting electrical control systems for automation equipment and machinery
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, CSA, UL, and company standards)
- Testing and troubleshooting PLC and HMI programs
- Supporting machine installation, testing, debugging, and commissioning during startups
- Performing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) support and providing remote troubleshooting assistance to field service teams
- Conducting Proof of Concept activities for complex technical challenges
- Collaborating with engineering and project management teams to design and deliver automated assembly solutions
- Creating and maintaining electrical documentation for new and existing equipment
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives related to automation and controls
- Traveling to Johnson Electric manufacturing facilities as required to support project execution
- Performing other related duties as required
- Post‑secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Electromechanical disciplines
- Minimum 4 years of experience as an Electrical Designer using EPLAN
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety compliance, and standards for industrial automation and robotic systems
- Ability to create, read, and interpret electrical schematics and control system designs
- Expertise with PLC and HMI systems
- Experience commissioning machines, including:
- I/O checkout
- Ethernet/IP device configuration
- Machine safety setup and validation
- Troubleshooting automation issues
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Hands‑on technical aptitude (capable of safely swapping components when required)
- Experience with SolidWorks for pneumatic/mechanical drawings is an asset
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
