For more information on diversity and inclusion, please visit:Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration:The Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration is responsible for leading efforts to grow Alberta's economy by supporting Alberta's entrepreneurs and employers, promoting trade and investment, helping attract, recruit and retain skilled workers, and promoting safe, fair and healthy workplaces.To learn more about the Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration, please visit:Role ResponsibilitiesThe Workplace Policy and Legislation branch within the Safe, Fair and Healthy Workplaces division is looking for a strong people leader, with expertise in strategic policy and/or labour relations to manage Alberta's Labour Relations Policy and Legislation team.Reporting to the Director of Labour Relations Policy and Legislation, the Manager is responsible for providing direction to a team of policy analysts responsible for analysis and advice related to the labour relations legislation such as the: Labour Relations Code, Public Service Employee Relations Act, Police Officers Collective Bargaining Act, and Burial of the Dead Act. The Manager is responsible for providing strong leadership to and using resources effectively to develop strategic and technical advice and analysis (based on strong research and engagement), while managing issues related to Alberta's labour relations policy and legislation.The successful candidate must possess the following skills:
- Experience effectively leading teams using collaboration, engagement, change management and performance management principles.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communications skills including active listening, superior writing ability, organizational and presentation skills.
- Strong ability to interpret legislation and provide recommendations on contentious policy issues.
- Knowledge and experience with decision-making and policy development processes as well as public consultation processes within government.
- Strong research skills and the ability to proactively monitor and conduct strategic analysis of labour relations trends.
- Ability to understand, synthesize and communicate a large volume of complex information under tight deadlines.
- Ability to simultaneously manage a wide variety of projects and processes in achieving the division's goals and strategies.
- Experience working in labour relations or a strong understanding of labour relations in Alberta.
