The result is a work and community experience you won't find anywhere else.Reporting to the Manager, Planning, Reliability & Continuous Improvement, this role will use continuous improvement methodologies to identify, develop and implement improvement initiatives across all departments at Baffinland Iron Mines. The specialist will use data to develop operational insights. This information will then be communicated to senior management and leadership teams to support comprehensive decision-making, process changes, and cost saving initiatives.Main Accountabilities
  • Lead and influence personnel at multiple levels to improve operational processes that ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitability, drive quality improvements and reduce operating costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement by conducting a thorough analysis of data and environment.
  • Implement effective measurement tools associated with continuous improvement tracking.
  • Support improvement in existing processes including eliminating variation and non-value added work.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, and confidentiality.
  • Train/coach/mentor other employees on the principles of Continuous Improvement.
  • Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
Main Qualifications
  • Engineering/sciences preferably with statistic as part of their degree
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Continuous Improvement
  • 5-10 years of experience in mining
  • Formal training in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified, with a proven track record of application.
Job LocationMary River Mine Site, NU, CanadaCompensationCompensation for this position is aligned with Baffinland’s approved compensation framework and current market conditions. Final compensation will be determined based on:
