- Instrument Operation: Operate and maintain NIR spectrometers and other analytical instruments. Keep contact with NIR equipment supplier for additional training on calibration methods as well as technical support for the equipment
- Method Development: Develop and optimize methods for analyzing various samples using NIR spectroscopy
- Data Analysis: Understand and interpret spectral data to determine the composition and properties of samples. Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards through accurate documentation and reporting.
- Calibration and Validation:
- Calibrate instruments and validate methods to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Provide follow up on adjustment to make sure it corrected the deviation
- Establish a calendar to ensure all calibrations on all equipment are verified at the proper frequency
- Create new channels with dedicated software
- Research and Development: Conduct research to improve existing techniques and develop new applications for NIR spectroscopy
- Quality Control: Ensure that analytical methods meet industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Training & Support: Train lab and production staff on proper use and interpretation of NIR instruments and provide troubleshooting and technical support for instrument users
- Define intra and iter laboratory control
- Degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Chemistry, physics or related field
- 3-5 years industrial experience in the relevant field
- Advanced training or certification in spectroscopy or analytical chemistry is often beneficial
- Effectively communicating findings and technical information to non-specialists
- Deep understanding of NIR spectroscopy principles and techniques
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with instruments and methods
- Ensuring precision and accuracy in all analytical work
- Train and coach non-material experts on instruments and analytical methods, data analysis & interpretation
- Understanding the composition and properties of various dairy products like cheese, butter, and yogurt
- Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to dairy product analysis
- French is required for all internal communications and documentation, as per Quebec language legislation.
- English is also required for this role to communicate effectively with stakeholders outside Quebec and to access technical resources provided in English.
