Opportunities are available at all sites.The candidate will be a key member representing the HFE team in a multi-discipline team environment, working closely with the customer, program team and subcontractors to provide human factors guidance and support in the design of facilities/work spaces, workstations, subsystem equipment and graphical user interfaces.
The candidate will participate in engineering activities including but not limited to:
  • Support the planning, managing and coordinating of HFE tasks.
  • Familiar with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and comfortable attending daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings.
  • Incorporate HFE in all phases of analysis, design and validation in accordance with Human Engineering processes.
  • Analyze program & product requirements affecting the end user; define HFE requirements and guidelines based on HFE standards, ergonomics and task/operational needs.
  • Passionate about human-centered design and continuously staying current with evolving HFE standards, usability research, and emerging UX technologies.
  • Develop a User Interface style guide to be used by the Product Development team.
  • Identify and analyse end user function, tasks and roles to define operational needs.
  • Work closely with Product Development teams to ensure alignment between design concepts and technical constraints.
  • Provide human engineering expertise and support to the design and development of human -system interfaces in an integrated and collaborative fashion, supporting design, development, and validation.
  • Develop and implement evaluation methodologies to test and assess designs of products & validate compliance against HFE requirements/guidelines.
  • Support the program team in performing trade off evaluations with usability, cost, schedule and risk to optimize product design.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities: iterate on designs within sprints based on new user insights or technical constraints.
  • Develop HFE analysis, design & assessment results artifacts.
  • Support in person and remote data collection workshops, design workshops, technical reviews and regular team status meetings as required; travel may be required.
What you bring to the roleWhat you Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline & training/courses in Human Factors.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in Human Factors Engineering efforts in the design and development of GUIs or as a UX Researcher.
  • Familiar with executing Human Factors or UX in an agile environment.
  • Work closely with Design, Business, Product, Marketing, and Engineering teams to drive the UX strategy for the product through insights, and put our users at the center.
  • Experience in requirements analysis & requirements derivation; flexibility to adapt quickly to changing requirements.
  • Experience working with Human Factors standards (MIL-STD, ANSI, ISO).
  • Experience in evaluating products against human factors requirements and guidelines and performing trade off evaluations.
  • Experience evaluating human interfaces using modelling tools.
  • Experience working with end user customers to discuss/review design requirements, task/operational needs, product acceptance/verification.
  • Excellent oral communication skills; comfortable interacting with and influencing stakeholders on the team.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently as required.
Additional skills desired for the role
  • Familiarity with DOORS, SharePoint, Windchill, Jira, Cameo, Visio.
  • Experience with Military/Naval domain.
  • Experience in Human Factors Engineering efforts in the design and development of workspaces and equipment.

Language Requirements in QuebecKnowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada.
