This VP Financial Controller role leads all finance, regulatory reporting, tax, treasury, and audit activities for the Canadian entity of a global financial services institution. The position partners closely with senior leadership, oversees a finance team, and ensures full compliance with IFRS and CIRO requirements in a fast‑paced capital markets environment.

Act as the lead finance business partner supporting the Canada CFO and Treasurer for finance, regulatory reporting, tax, and treasury.
Lead monthly and annual financial statement preparation under IFRS and CIRO rules.
Review financial statements, reconciliations, variance analyses, and provide insights against budget.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits and regulatory reviews.
Oversee working papers, schedules, and documentation for audits.
Review or prepare direct and indirect tax provisions with external consultants.
Support corporate finance, treasury, and tax matters and ensure alignment with global accounting and reporting teams.
Collaborate with Controllers, Treasury, Tax, and FP&A to meet reporting deadlines.
Recommend improvements to reporting processes, internal controls, and taxation matters.
Ensure internal controls are designed and operating effectively.
Lead and mentor the Canadian finance team, fostering continuous improvement.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA or equivalent designation.
8 to 10+ years of experience in broker‑dealer, banking, auditing, capital markets, or financial services.
Strong knowledge of CIRO, OSC, OSFI, CRA and related regulatory frameworks.
Advanced understanding of financial and non‑financial risk management for financial institutions.
Strong analytical skills and ability to interact with senior management.
Demonstrated leadership experience.
Self‑motivated, accountable, and results‑driven.
